Home and Christmas to the end of the year

Avery came home from the hospital tiny and sweet and perfect! We loved having her home and Luke and Halle loved holding her and having a newborn in the house. She was so tiny we called her our little peanut and continued to be surprised with how little she was!

She was such a cute little Christmas baby! She had her first bath, lots of feedings and naps and getting held and loved by everyone.

We missed not having Asher with us yet, and it was a bit of a stressful time going back and forth from home to the hospital to visit Asher and be with him. We couldn't take Avery with us to the hospital, so it was a lot of juggling the kids and Avery and mommy going to see Asher in between feeding times for Avery. It was sad not having him with us on Christmas, but we were able to visit him still.

Even with how busy that was and how much we wished Asher was better and home with us, we were so grateful to have our sweet Avery with us and she brough such a special feeling to our house.

Avery's hospital stay

Avery was so tiny and precious and such a joy during the hospital stay. Her sweet little personality already was coming through and it was so great to have her with me close by in our room. It was so sad that Asher was away in the NICU still and we weren't able to hold him or have him in the room with us, and it made me sad that the twins couldn't be together. But we knew it was for the best and that Asher was getting the best care possible from the doctors to try to get him better.

Avery was so tiny! I was amazed at how little she was. When she was born she was 5 pounds 9 ounces but by the time we left the hospital she had dropped a pound and she was down to 4 pounds 9 ounces. It was so crazy to me to see a baby so tiny, she was the tiniest baby I had ever seen! In this picture in her carseat you can see how small she looked.

Those first few days were hard with Asher not with us but I was so grateful Avery was with me. It brough me so much peace and happiness and I loved that special time with her to bond and hold and cuddle her. I knew right away she was going to be such a sweet little girl and such a blessing in my life.

They are here! The birth of the twins

The twins are here! I had to have an emergency C-Section because I was going into labor. I was 35.5 weeks along, so they came 4 and a half weeks early. This was really good considering I had been on bedrest to put off early labor since Mid-October.

They were born late at night on December 17. We had gone into the hospital not knowing if they would for sure decide to do the C-section but it all happened very fast when they decided it was too risky not to do the C-section since Asher was so low and he was breech.

The C-section went well, but when Asher came out he was not looking well and needed to be rushed straight to the NICU. Avery was doing better and although she also had to go to the NICU because it's protocol for any baby born that early, she was doing fine, just very small. Asher on the other hand seemed to be getting sicker as time went. We thought he just needed some help breathing and that his lungs may have been a little underdeveloped.

Even with the stress of what was going on with Asher it was still such a special, joyful time. The babies were so sweet and precious, and we were so glad to have them here.

Here is newborn little Avery, our tiny little sweetheart when I first got to hold her. She melted my heart and I was so grateful I got to hold and snuggle her and that she was healthy and doing so well.
